Elon Musk, the world’s richest man, has told that the Twitter deal is still on hold. Musk tweeted that his $44 billion deal for Twitter Inc. has been temporarily suspended. Behind this, he has mentioned spam and fake accounts. According to Musk, the deal with Twitter has been temporarily put on hold after details emerged that spam/fake accounts actually account for less than 5% of total users. However, the company’s shares fell up to 20 per cent in premarket trading and Twitter is yet to comment on the matter.

The company earlier this month estimated that spam accounts accounted for less than 5 percent of daily active users in the first quarter. The company also said that it faced many risks until the deal with Musk was completed. In this, concerns were also expressed about not appearing on Twitter. At the same time, Elon Musk had said that his priority regarding Twitter would be to remove ‘spam bots’ from this platform.
