Vice Admiral apologizes
Royal Thai Navy Vice Admiral Pokrong Monthphaelin has apologized to the aggrieved soldiers and their families over the officer’s behaviour. He also claimed that violence has never been used to punish trainees who joined military service. According to the news published in The Bangkok Post, the constables shown in the video in compulsory military training have completed six months of training, after which they have been discharged. Earlier in 2017, there was a case in which a 19-year-old trainee suddenly died of a heart attack. The family had alleged that there were injury marks on his body and several parts of his body were missing.
There is six months of training in Thailand
Military enlistment is a mandatory practice in Thailand. Cards are given through lottery to men aged 21 years and above. If you have a red card, you will have to serve in the army for two years and if you have a black card, you will get exemption and can leave after six months of training. This practice started in Thailand from 1905, because the constitution of the royal family says that every citizen of Thailand has a duty to protect the country.
