This image, shown at 7.7 µm, shows a portion of the Large Magellanic Cloud. It is a small satellite galaxy of the Milky Way. This part of the sky has a dense area of stars. James Web Telescope has captured this very well.
NASA has published a blog on a comparative study of these images taken by two different instruments. It states that the Spitzer telescope took that image at 0.8 microns, while James Webb captured it at 7.7 microns. This was the main reason due to which there was a difference in the quality of these two pictures.
The James Webb Space Telescope has four science instruments. Its primary mirror is much bigger and the detector is better. It allows scientists to see the sky with clarity. This will help scientists to expand the scope of their discoveries. This image was taken as a test by James Webb’s coolest instrument.
Test images taken with MIRI help scientists discover how much the James Webb Telescope can improve deep space research. Scientists believe that once this telescope is fully functional, then it will make the world look at many of the best pictures. This image is part of a test being done by the team at James Webb. Significantly, the James Webb Telescope is the most expensive telescope ever sent into space.
