
LTTE may attack on May 18
As reported by The Hindu, intelligence agencies have inputs that the LTTE plans to launch an attack on the Mullivaikal anniversary that falls on May 18. LTTE Cadre This day is also celebrated as Tamil Genocide Remembrance Day. The aim of this attack is to avenge the murder of LTTE chief Velupillai Prabhakaran, newsreader Isai Priya and other leaders. However, then the Sri Lankan army was also accused of massacre of Tamil people.
Increased vigil in Tamil Nadu
The sources, citing intelligence inputs, said that some former LTTE cadres had come to Tamil Nadu to plan and execute their horrific attacks in Sri Lanka. After which vigil has also been increased in Tamil Nadu. Special teams of state intelligence and local police have increased the surveillance and alert level in the coastal districts. The Coastal Security Group of Tamil Nadu Police has increased its vigil in the offshore waters.
Police and security agencies intensify patrolling in the sea
Fishermen going out to sea have been advised to alert in case of any suspicious activity. In case of any suspicious activity in international waters also, the concerned authorities have been asked to report. Sources said coastal security agencies have been asked to stop the infiltration of Sri Lankan nationals into India. Superintendents of Police of sea-connected districts have been asked to strengthen security checkpoints for thorough checking of vehicles on all routes leading to the sea. The number of LTTE sympathizers has increased significantly in Tamil Nadu in recent years.
