Infosys CEO Salil Parekh: When Salil Parekh took over as the CEO and Managing Director of Infosys in 2018, the country’s most prestigious multinational IT company was embroiled in a lot of controversies. There was public rhetoric between the founder members of Infosys and the then CEO Vishal Sikka. Due to which the confidence of the clients as well as the investors of Infosys was shaken. Infosys was constantly lagging behind TCS.

Then the Infosys board informed that it was decided to appoint Salil Parekh as the new CEO and MD of Infosys. Salil Parekh was responsible for winning the trust of clients and investors by taking the promoters along. The land that the company was losing had to be regained. And now more than four years have passed since Salil Parekh took over the reins of Infosys. The transformation of Infosys in these four years is commendable. He helped Infosys get back there. During his tenure, the business of Infosys also increased and profits too. So investors have also got more than double return on their investment in the last four years.
How did Infosys rejuvenate?
Salil Parekh was the first to win the trust of clients after taking over as the CEO of Infosys in 2018. When the company got big deals, a large number of new clients joined the company. During the tenure of Salil Parekh, there was a tremendous jump in profits along with the revenue of Infosys. Since January 2, 2018, the market capitalization of Infosys has increased by 200%. Which is currently Rs 6.37 lakh crore. In 2018, the share of digital revenue in the revenue of Infosys was only 25.5 percent, which has increased to 58.5 percent during the tenure of Salil Parikh. The number of large clients with $100 million has increased from 20 to 37. Today, Imposis has $4 billion in cash and the company has no outstanding debt.
Know about Salil Parekh
Prior to joining Infosys, Salil Parekh was a member of the Group Executive Board of the world’s leading IT company Capgemini. He was posted in an important position in Capgemini for 25 years and he also had big responsibilities. He is also called the architect of the turnaround story of Capgemini in North America. He was also a partner of Ernst & Young and is credited with expanding the consultancy firm’s operations in India.

Salil Parikh holds a Bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering from IIT Bombay as well as a Masters degree in Computer Science and Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University. At Infosys, Salil Parekh reports directly to Chairman Nandan Nilekani and has also managed to win the trust of the company’s founder, NR Narayana Murthy.
