Know about the ‘Caldwell 5’ galaxy, why does it appear faint even though it is bright?

This galaxy is about 11 million light years away from our Earth. The Galaxy’s star arms are well visible in the image, which are spread across the center, seen in yellow.

A star nursery is present in the center of this galaxy. It has given birth to thousands of stars over millions of years.

The center of the galaxy is a type of region known as an H II nucleus. This is the ionized region of atomic hydrogen. Thousands of stars have been born in this region so far. In a blog post, NASA has told that every hot and blue star produces ultraviolet light. This ionizes the gas around the galaxy.

It has been told that the Caldwell 5 Galaxy is quite shiny by the way. But it is covered with the gas of the universe, dark dust and bright stars. According to scientists, it would have been one of the brightest galaxies in our sky, if it had not been covered by so many shells. It is claimed that the existence of this galaxy is billions of years old.

British astronomer William Frederick Denning discovered this galaxy in the early 1890s. It is located in the constellation Camelopardalis, which can be best viewed during early winter. Only people living near the equator in the Southern Hemisphere can see it north in the sky in late summer. Because it is a faint galaxy, it will be difficult for people in areas where the weather is polluted or hazy.
