In the year 2021-2022, Indian Railways has set a new record. In the month of April 2022, the Railways has set a new record of freight transportation.
Railways carried so much freight this year
Railways has released freight figures, according to which till this date of April 2022, Railways has carried 122.2 metric tonnes of freight. Last year in the month of April 2021 itself, 111.64 metric tonnes of freight was transported. In such a situation, more freight of 10.5 metric tonnes has been transported this year than last year. Till April 2022, the railway has got the benefit of 9.5 percent freight. Let us inform that since September of 2020, there has been a continuous increase in the freight traffic figures of the Railways. These figures can be seen by linking them with the economic figures after Corona.
Recorded increase in freight traffic of these things
This year there has been a decrease in the freight of iron made things. Apart from this, there has been an increase in the freight movement of everything. Railways has told that in the case of Net Ton Kilometer, an increase of 17.7 percent has been registered in the comparison of April 2021 in 2022.
Last year this figure was 62.6 billion which has increased to 73.7 billion this year. Also, this year the freight traffic of coal has been recorded at 5.8 MT and in fertilizers 1.3 MT as compared to last year. Along with this, if we talk about the loading of wagons loaded every day last year, an increase has also been registered in it. Last year it was 60434 which has increased to 66024 this year. A total increase of 9.2 percent has been registered in this.
