Commenting on Google Cloud’s Web 3 group, Amit Zaveri, Vice President of Google Cloud, wrote in a company email (via CNBC), “While the world is still far from adopting Web 3, it is a market that Which is already performing tremendously and many customers are asking us to increase our support for Web3 and crypto-related technologies.”
Apart from this, Zaveri also said that the plan is to make Google Cloud Platform the prime choice for developers. In addition, the Vice President also emphasized the new group’s ‘supporting role’ in growing crypto in a media session.
The services provided by Web 3 Group will be similar to those provided by large technology companies including Alibaba and Amazon. Microsoft previously offered a blockchain service until last year, when the software giant ended its Azure blockchain service.
It’s also worth noting that in January, Google Cloud revealed its plans to create a digital assets team to work with its customers. This was a decision taken following the massive growth of Non-Funable Tokens (NFTs), and at the time, Google was exploring crypto payment options.
