The Black Friday PS4 deals are nearly upon us. While the PS5 may be the belle of the ball, there is still a lot that the PS4 can offer and now is a great time to pick up the last-gen console for cheap.
While Black Friday 2022 is on November 25, we’ll be seeing great Black Friday PS4 deals cropping up throughout the month, with some appearing as early as October. It’s not just a good time to get a cheap PS4 Pro or PS4 Slim, you’ll see great deals on the best PS4 accessories, too.
It’s not just hardware, either, with some of the best PS4 games getting steep discounts. This can include recent releases, such as Horizon Forbidden West and Elden Ring.
Historically, there’s always a dip in PS4 prices around this time of year. Unfortunately, PS4 sales in the US have skyrocketed (opens in new tab) since January 2021. From $420 to over $1000, Black Friday may be your best chance to get a great deal on a PS4.
Meanwhile, in the UK, we saw the PS4 Pro go as low as £249.99 last Black Friday. However, in 2022 the prices have been dropping earlier than before, landing at £259.99 for a PS4 at Argos (opens in new tab)currently before any Black Friday deals.
After how elusive the PS5 has been since its release in 2020, you would think sales of PS4 consoles would skyrocket. But it’s hard to soar in sales when there is almost nothing to buy. In reality, there are two Playstation shortages for both the PS5 and the PS4.
While the PS5 has gained wide publicity for its manufacturing shortages, the lack of PS4s has occurred for a different reason. This slump in sales is a response to Sony’s decision to end production of the PS4 Pro in early 2021. The shortages of PS4s are noticeable especially when the PS5 is outperforming it in quarterly sales (opens in new tab) shown below.
You may think that this isn’t an issue. That it is old tech and so it makes sense for Sony to prioritize the PS5. But the fact that it is old tech means that it would be cheaper for buyers and, therefore, why you may want to get it instead of the more expensive next-gen console.
Considering that the PS4 Pro and other models are increasingly hard to come by, it’s hard to predict if there will be good Black Friday PS4 deals, there may be big savings on bundles or refurbished consoles, or there may be nothing at all.
For the time being, we’ll get you sorted on what to look out for and where the best possible deals are in preparation for Black Friday.
Today’s best PS4 deals
Because of the shortage of PS4s, if you see a deal on a console that you can afford, we recommend not waiting until November. There will be increased demand during Black Friday and stock may be hard to come by. So, if you’re looking for a PS4 now, these are the best places to start your search.
Should you wait for a Black Friday PS4 deal?
No. While you may want to wait for Black Friday PS4 deals, with no new PS4 pros being produced, it’s unlikely we’ll see big sales, as retailers are limited to second-hand and refurbished consoles.
There’s no saying how many or even if there will be any Black Friday PS4 deals this year. Even if there are deals, with the lack of stock, the queue to get a bargain will be out the door. With that in mind, if you find yourself looking at a PS4 and the price seems right, we recommend buying now.
Black Friday PS4 deals: our predictions
When will the Black Friday PS4 deals start?
While Black Friday 2022 is officially November 25, with some of the best deals being found on the day itself, many companies start the savings early. We see discounts beginning as early as October and increasing in depth and frequency right up to Thanksgiving week.
In the case of the PS4, there are already some deals available. In the UK, until October 3, Argos is offering 10% off breakdown cover (opens in new tab) for the console.
We’ll be scouring the internet for the best deals and updating this page with any we recommend you jump on ahead of Black Friday, but be sure to check back in October when we’ll start seeing the best discounts. With the pressure of the cost of living crisis, companies know we’re not going to want to make lots of purchases in a short space of time, so they’re more likely to offer better deals throughout October and November, instead of holding them back until the final week.
Where will the best Black Friday PS4 deals be?
If you are wondering where you should start to look for Black Friday deals, then worry not. Here at TechRadar Gaming, we will have all the up-to-date information on the PS4 and everything that comes with it, like accessories or games.
But if you want to keep a tab open just in case, here is a list of retailers we recommend looking at for deals on PS4s.

Newegg: PS4 stock but massively inflated pricing right now (opens in new tab)
Amazon: A wide range of PS4 products (opens in new tab)

Very: Deals on accessories and games (opens in new tab)
How good will this year’s Black Friday PS4 deals be?
We may not see big reductions on the PS4 or bundles, as stock of the consoles is so low. Though we’re going to be on the lookout for releases of refurbished models, which may also get a bit extra off on Black Friday.
What PS4 Black Friday deals do we expect to see?
While the PS4 is hard to come by, its accessories are certainly not. A great way to improve your gaming time is by getting one of the best PS4 controllers. The classic DualShock 4 – even if it was too quirky for its own good.
Unfortunately, some retailers don’t sell Playstation Plus cards after Sony revamped its subscription model. But you can buy gift cards equal to the tiers on the Playstation store. So there may be some Black Friday Playstation Plus deals to look out for.
Should you just upgrade to a PS5? What the alternatives are.
When it comes to PS5 vs PS4, the main question you should ask is what games do you want to play. If you’re looking for a console with a huge library of excellent games and you’re not fussed about the newest tech, then a PS4 is a great option. And, for the moment, many new games are being released on both the PS4 and PS5, so you aren’t missing out on the biggest titles. However, that will not always be the case, so if keeping up with the latest games is most important to you, you should strongly consider focusing on buying a PS5.
If not Playstation, then what? There are other consoles, and Black Friday 2022 will be the time to grab them. There is always the Nintendo Switch OLED if you want that edge on quality. Whereas the Xbox Series X just saw a power-saving update added. This could be a welcomed feature with energy prices the way they are now.
