Australian Navy intercept Chinese People’s Liberation Army-Navy Intelligence Collection Vessel Haiwangxing operating off the west coast: to worry

Canberra: A Chinese spy warship has been spotted near the coast of Australia. This warship is patrolling near the western coast of Australia. The western coast of Australia is home to several military and intelligence installations, which are also used by the US Navy. The Australian Navy has yet to retaliate due to its presence in international waters. However, Australia and the US are monitoring China’s intelligence collection Vessel Haiwangxing through satellite, patrol aircraft, radar and other technologies. Tensions between China and Australia have increased since China recently signed a security agreement with the Solomon Islands.

Chinese ship reached within 50 nautical miles of Australia
China’s Intelligence Collection Vessel Haiwangxing was tracked within 50 nautical miles of a sensitive defense facility in Australia. Prime Minister Scott Morrison said the Chinese naval vessel was not in Australian waters, but its presence was a matter of concern. He said it is clearly an intelligence ship and they are watching us and we are keeping a close watch on them. Australia tracked this Chinese spy ship for the first time last week. The ship was then near the Harold E Holt Naval Communication Station in Exmouth.

The People's Liberation Army-Navys (PLA-N) Intelligence Collection Vessel Haiwangxing is pictured operating near the coast of Australia.

Concerns over Chinese infiltration near Australian elections
General elections are due in Australia on 21 May. In such a situation, patrolling the Chinese spy ship near the Australian coast is considered very important. China had earlier tried to influence the Australian election through its agents, but the racket was busted by intelligence agencies. In such a situation, national security has emerged as a major issue in Australia’s election. All the major parties are issuing their respective statements on national security.

Australian Defense Minister said – this aggressive act
Defense Secretary Peter Dutton said that I think this is an act of aggression. It is a matter of trouble for the Chinese ship to come so far in the south. It is moving close to military and intelligence installations on Australia’s west coast. Dutton said it apparently intended to gather intelligence off the coast. The Defense Minister said that this is the first time that a Chinese warship has come so far to the south and it is being monitored by aircraft and technology.
